French-English Translator Consultant

Summary: LWR seeks a technical translator who can rapidly turn around project documents (such as proposals, terms of reference, evaluation reports, technical studies, audit reports) written in French into English.

Duties:

 

The consultant will be asked to:

  • Perform translation of written text from French into English
  • Organize translated material and finalize translation according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
Qualifications:
 
  • Demonstrated history of accurately translating technical documents in the agricultural development field from French to English, verified by former clients
     
  • Ability to read and understand French
     
  • Ability to translate clearly and concisely in English
     
  • Ability to work to deadlines
     
  • Availability to complete translations of 5-25 pages within five to ten days, if available during the agreed upon time period for the task

Recommended qualifications:
 
  • A bachelor's degree with a concentration in liberal arts, English or foreign language studies
     
  • Experience working in French on international development programs
     
  • Certification by the American Translation Association or similar accreditation
