| Description: | Objective: To coordinate the business acquisition process beginning with donor engagement through award negotiation; create and manage systems that support the efficient functioning of NBD unit. |
| Duties: | I. Proposal Process - Lead and/or coordinate the development of high quality concept paper and proposals.
- Serve as lead writer for concept papers and proposals.
- Conduct research as needed to support the technical content of concept papers and proposals.
- Support Manager for Technical Support and content providers to develop proposals for new project activities and/or amendments to current projects.
- Coordinate/lead proposal Kick-off meetings.
- Coordinate and compile proposal inputs, including charts and graphs
- Assist with proposal budget reviews and cost application inputs
- Manage version control
- Coordinate internal LWR approval processes for proposal submission in a timely fashion.
- Finalize, package and submit proposals according to funder specifications and deadlines and LWR quality standards
- Maintain electronic filing system for proposals, including drafts and final submission
- Coordinate the hand-off of successful awards to the relevant implementing team via the assigned grant manager.
- Perform other proposal development tasks as needed and assigned by the Director of NBD.
II. Research and Learning - Conduct market research on donors and partners for specific funding opportunities
- Lead donor prospecting activities.
- Conduct research for and draft proposal sections including: resumes, management plans, executive summaries, project abstracts
- Identify new sources of funding via list serves, internet searches, and networking.
- Create and manage LWR's library of NBD resources, including but not limited to: Past performance references, Corporate capability statements, Signature approach documents, Certs and reps, Library of successful and unsuccessful proposals, K and S file resources on NBD
- Assist the Manager for Technical Support in development of prioritized materials regarding LWR's technical approaches and materials for use in proposals, website and marketing materials, including country and sector profiles.
III. Partnership Development - Assist the Director of NBD to identify partnerships including the US Government, foundations and other potential donors, to expand LWR's programs overseas and in the US along strategic lines.
- Coordinate the development of teaming agreements, memoranda of understanding, and other institutional agreement with partners under the guidance of the Director of NBD
- Represent LWR to potential donors at forums and events
IV. Capacity Building - Plan, coordinate and facilitate training sessions for LWR staff to build business acquisition capacities. Includes:
- Workshops for overseas staff
- Training for HQ staff
- Brown bag lunch presentations
- Create, manage, update Grants Acquisition Manual.
V. Strategic Planning - Assist in the NBD coordination to annual operating plans of relevant units
- Inform the development of regional NBD strategies
- Review strategies to inform NBD priorities

| Qualifications: | - Deep commitment to LWR's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
- Three to five (3-5) years experience in international development
- Master's degree in a relevant field
- Successful track record of program development; proven and sustained success in raising restricted funds donors
- Experience as a writer for successful proposals to USAID, US Department of State and major foundations
- Excellent communicator-verbal and written
- Strong facilitation skills
- Able to collaborate with a diverse work force
- Proactive and flexible work style
- Capable of identifying and responding to shifting priorities
- Fluency in French or Spanish
- Experience with and commitment to working in a very diverse workforce.
- Familiarity with Lutheranism, church structures, and church member motivations and sensitivities preferred.
- Ability and affinity for working in teams
- Ability to travel overseas up to twenty percent (20%) of the time
