| Description: | PURPOSE: The Program Manager for the Lutheran Malaria Initiative (LMI) is responsible for technical support, management and administration of LWR's pan-regional Lutheran Malaria Initiative. Primary responsibilities include: (1) Project administration of LMI resources and grant opportunities; (2) Assist Deputy Regional Director, Africa (Program Director, Lutheran Malaria Initiative)in project management and support of LMI programs; (3) Secure and manage LMI-related United States of America Government (USG) and foundation grants and funding. |
| Duties: | - Monitor and backstop all LMI funded (unrestricted and restricted) programs and provide support to regional offices through reporting, regular communication with field staff, and monitoring trips
- Coordinate with International Program Department, overseas teams & New Business Development Unit on LWR's malaria opportunities and lead proposal development process as needed
- Support development of and periodic review and revision of LMI overseas program management tools and processes
- Identify and lead training initiatives for both HQ and field staff related to malaria prevention and control
- Participate in ongoing professional development
- Engage US Lutherans effectively in the work of LWR and ensure that LWR's work in marginalized communities is of the highest quality and integrity

| Qualifications: | - Deep commitment to LWR's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health or the equivalent. A master's degree is highly desirable
- At least five years experience working in a program-related, administrative capacity with an international development or humanitarian agency
- Familiarity with key public health, development, and socio-economic justice issues at a practical and policy level. Practical and intellectual familiarity with the specific countries where LWR works. Specific experience with malaria control programming a plus
- Familiarity with rules and regulations that apply to funding from U.S. Government agencies and ability to produce US government and foundation grant proposals and reports.
- Experience in financial management with strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines under pressure
- Strong analytical and excellent writing and communication skills in English and French
- Highly proficient in using Word, Excel, Outlook, database and web browser software.
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to be both a team leader and a team player and to work with people of varied backgrounds
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally (up to 30% of time), including adverse conditions and/or disaster zones
- Experience with and commitment to working in a very diverse workforce.
- Familiarity with Lutheranism, church structures, and church member motivations and sensitivities preferred
- Familiarity with key political, economic, and social justice issues at a practical and policy level. Practical and intellectual familiarity with public health issues in Africa. Understanding of issues related to public health in Asia helpful
- Ability to effectively represent organization to internal and external audiences
