Description:

Lutheran World Relief (LWR) seeks a Donor Relations Associate. The Donor Relations Associate is responsible for customer service, gift processing, donor acknowledgement, data entry and project coordination related to LWR's fundraising, donor relations and constituent engagement efforts. This position is responsible for providing an excellent experience for LWR constituents and for increasing donor retention.

Duties:
  1. Prepare gift batches and enter gifts (this includes gift coding) into LWR's constituent database (Raiser's Edge) following established protocol and excellent judgment for proper gift coding.
  2. Support donor acknowledgement strategy for a wide-variety of donors. Prepare and mail gift acknowledgement letters, following identified best practices and LWR guidelines and protocol.
  3. Provide customer service support by responding to donor's inquiries and questions via phone, email and mail. Provide phone back-up and assistance to the Engagement Associate for donation specific questions and needs.
  4. Enter new data or clean up existing data in the Raiser's Edge database following established protocol for RE data entry. 
  5. Solely responsible to manage the workflow, process and administrative tasks for Global Impact workplace giving campaigns and state registration dates. Responsibilities include determining and implementing a process to manage the registrations, tracking the timeline, communicating externally with Global Impact and other vendors, coordinating with Philanthropic Engagement internally, filling out paperwork and tracking down additional items/answers needed for each state.
  6. Manage the workflow, communications, gift processing and acknowledgment for numerous giving programs from LWR Gifts and LWR Sustaining Partners (monthly giving) to Thrivent Choice and other giving channels.
  7. Observe donor trends and habits. Communicate about mid-level and major constituents and congregational gifts or questions with the Philanthropic Engagement team as needed and serve as a liaison with Philanthropic Engagement.
  8. Support additional donor acknowledgement strategies from ensuring new donor welcome packets are mailed bi-monthly and customized letters as needed to a "donor thank you day" and handwritten cards.
  9. In coordination with the Donor Relations team, follows all guidelines of PCI compliance within all aspects of gift processing.
  10. Maintain safe-keeping of all original (includes hard copy) donor files and records. This includes gift history, donor correspondence, donor database and contact reports. Must be able to access and retrieve information quickly and easily.
  11. In coordination with the Donor Relations Senior Manager and prioritized within other responsibilities, the Donor Relations Associate has the opportunity to participate in, coordinate and/or manage projects associated with increasing an excellent constituent experience for the LWR audience based on the skills and interests of the selected candidate.
Qualifications:
  1. Deep commitment to LWR's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
  2. Bachelor's degree.
  3. Two to four (2-4) years related development, fundraising or Donor Relations/customer relations experience.
  4. Working knowledge of using a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database, preferably Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge.
  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word & Excel.
  6. Strong data entry skills.
  7. Experience with state fundraising registration requirements or campaign certification processes, preferred.
  8. Strong customer service and phone skills.
  9. Project coordination and management experience with strong organization and planning skills.
  10. Task and process-orientated.
  11. Detail-orientated with commitment to a high degree of accuracy.
  12. Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills.
  13. Good communication and writing skills.
  14. Commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  15. Deep commitment to LWR's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
